Healthy Protein Powder Guide. How to find the healthiest protein powder for you!
For Whey Base Protein Powder:
Ideally, the whey should be grass-fed
Buy organic whey
Avoid ones with carrageenan; a food preservative.
Make sure there are no natural or artificial favors added.
Your protein powder should be sweetened with a natural sweetener like monk fruit or stevia. If you see “sucralose” it’s another word for Splenda and should be avoided. It’s a man made chemical that tricks your brain into craving more sugar. Maltitol is another sweetener you want to avoid, if you have too much, you’re going to poop your pants.
Palm oil or any other hydronated oil should be avoided.
Watch out for gums and artificial or natural flavors being added! Natural flavors are not much different than artificial ones.
One of the healthiest options:
Grass-fed Collagen
Vital Proteins make collagen peptides that are certified K kosher, pasture raised & grass fed. Collagen is important for joint and muscle repair & for hair, skin and nails.
This gives you 9g of protein per scoop, but you don’t get all the amino acids you need. Best bet is to mix this with the Garden of Life healthy plant based protein powder. You can whip it up into a smoothie or anything else you’d like!
