Healthy Chocolate Guide. How to find healthy chocolate!
Ways to know your chocolate is healthy:
For a healthy option, you want the content of cocoa to be over 65%. The content of cocoa is the amount of cocoa beans/powder in the chocolate. The higher the percentage, the more nutrients!
The best chocolate: Dark Chocolate. Dark chocolate has the most antioxidants and nutrients. The worst chocolate: White Chocolate. White chocolate has a lot of sugar, and barely any nutrients from the cocoa. Think about it, if the chocolate is white then where is the cocoa? White chocolate is full of things you don’t want to be eating.
From all the unhealthy chocolates, 3 Musketeers is the most unhealthy. It has a whopping 36g of sugar per serving! To put that in perspective, 4g of sugar is 1 teaspoon of sugar! So that means in one 3 Musketeers you’ll be consuming 12 teaspoons of sugar! But the best bet is to not have any unhealthy, conventional chocolate bars.
Sugar of any kind shouldn’t be the first ingredient in your chocolate bar.
The healthiest kind of chocolate bar is one made with cacao and not cocoa. Cacao comes directly from the beans, is less processed and gives you a greater amount of nutrients. With that being said, it does taste bitter.
The best kind of chocolate bar is one with the least ingredients. Under 5 ingredients is awesome! Find a chocolate bar that keeps the ingredients nice and simple ex: cocoa, sweetener, milk or cocoa butter.
