Healthy Bread Guide
White Flour vs. Whole Wheat
The main difference between white flour and whole wheat flour is that white flour is more processed. Most of the fiber (the bran), has been removed from the white flour, and not the whole wheat flour.

Enriched, Unbleached & Unrefined Flour
When seeing enriched, unbleached & unrefined flour in the list of ingredients in your bread, you should pick something else. Whole grain wheat flour or flour made from sprouted grains are the healthiest choices.
Added Man-Made Vitamins In Your Bread
Ever saw the ingredients niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate… following unbleached wheat flour? Those are man made vitamins that have been added after they process and strip down all the real vitamins from the wheat.
Sugar Content
When buying bread, each slice should have no more than 2g of sugar and more than 2g of protein and more than 2g of fiber. This is so your blood sugar won’t spike when eating bread.
Is Gluten Free Bread Healthy
Don’t assume that gluten free bread is healthier than bread that has gluten. Even a healthy gluten free bread will not be able to have whole grain wheat as the base, and therefore it can have starches, rice flour, tapioca starch, carrageenan and other fillers. Unless for allergic reasons, gluten free bread isn’t always the best option.
Avoid These Ingredients
When buying bread you want to make sure that there are no chemicals, preservatives, or corn syrup. After all, bread isn’t supposed to last on your counter for weeks. Avoid the unnecessary & unhealthy ingredients.
Spongey
The more spongey and fluffy the bread, the more suspicious you should be about the ingredients that are in there. The unbleached and unhealthy flour is what leads to the soft and fluffy texture.
Oil
You want to make sure that if there’s oil in the bread, the oil shouldn’t be hydronated oil. Canola and soy bean oil are also ones to try to avoid, but if you do see an option with canola or soybean oil, make sure the bread has a non-gmo label.
Sprouted Grains
When buying bread, you want to get the healthiest option, which is one made with sprouted grains. Sprouted grains are more nutritious, easier to digest and less starchy.

Never knew about sprouted grains, thanks!
so glad you learnt something new!
