It’s almost as if this 8 day holiday was created to test just how much self control you have. If that’s the case, there must be a way to make it out of Hannukah, still being able to fit into most of your clothes. So here are the inside tricks; the top 5 best ways to not gain weight on Hanukkah.
The first trick, is knowing your calories and nutrition facts inside out…

Jelly donuts contain around 290 calories per donut. They have 18 grams of sugar, and keep in mind this is all processed sugar. (Not like a healthy sugar that comes from planted produce and has fiber in it.)

Here are 5 quick tips that’ll help you not gain wait over Hanukkah, or frankly any other holiday:
1. Wear Tight Fitted Clothes
On Hanukkah, especially by the time of eating, put on tighter clothes. As strange as this concept may seem, wearing tight clothes will serve as a reminder to not overindulge on any not necessary food. Everytime you sit, eat or are moments away from reaching out for another donut, you’ll feel a pinch from that tight garment of yours. It’s almost as if you have a voice, rather your fat, saying “pstt… think again before eating that. Do you really want your clothes to pop?!” Eating with pantihose or spanx can can also help you feel the tightness.

2. Find a Buddy who also Doesn’t Want to Gain Weight
Having a friend, family member or neighbor that has the same mission as you will help you keep your weight in tact. The best option will be to get a family member, or someone who is attending your meals and parties. Arrange ahead of time what you plan to eat and stick with it! Your buddy will also tell you his/her plans and you can help each other stay regulated throughout the day.

3. Start the Meal with a Drink of Water
This is a classic one, but most people seem to not do it. Half hour before you eat, drink a full glass of water. This will make you more hydrated and help you eat less.

4. Start By Eating the Heathy Foods on the Table
This will help you tremendously if executed. On every holiday table, there’ll always be either a salad, soup or, veggies of some sort. Opt for that before you start indulging in all the oily foods. This way, you’ll be full when you eat those oily foods and you’ll eat less of them.

5. Wait 5 Minutes in Between Each Additional Donut or Latke You Want to Eat.
Giving yourself a few minute break in between each addition unhealthy food you want will help you have more control about just how much you’re eating. You’ll have the time to rationalize if you really want the food or it’s just because you’re bored.
